Best Witch Spells (Pathfinder)

The best pathfinder Witch Spells are listed below.  Optibuilds’ does not waste time on those so-so spells because you are not casting them anyway.  Further, on some spells you get in depth Optibuilds Notes on how to best utilize these spells.

1st Level Witch Spells

Blend (8/10) – Gives you hide in plain site.  However, It is for Elves (absent GM permission).  Nonetheless, if you are an Elf, it is golden.  Attacking or casting harmful spells with it will end the spell.  However, buffing while hidden is an option.

Charm (8/10) – Gather Information, get a discount on your gear, and/or add an extra ally to adventure with (a witch can use a bodyguard).  Really, you would have to play with an impossible GM for this spell to not work in you serious favor.

Cure Light Wounds (8/10) – Since this spell is on the witch spell list, you don’t have to even learn it to reap benefits from it.  You could just get a wand.  A fully charged wand represents an average of 225 points of healing for only 750 gold.  That said, depending on your group and/or what type of witch you are playing, you group may look to you for healing.

Ear-Piercing Scream (7/10)Good range spell for targeting fortitude saves for a 1 round daze effect at low levels.  That said, it is only slightly better than the Daze cantrip.  It’s really listed here because most other first level options are not that strong and you will have a number of 1st level spells you will need to select.

Enlarge Person (10/10) – Check out these Optibuilds Notes on Enlarge Person.

Ill Omen (8/10) – It has no save and can ruin the attacks of the target for one round. I don’t even mind that a move action can take away on of the cursed D(20) rolls.  At least that melee mauler won’t be getting a full attack.  It also get better as your caster level increases.  There is one caveat; what is your GM like.  Theoretically, you GM could have that barbarian make a few free action knowledge nature checks and spend up all of the Ill-Omens before attacking.  If this is your GM, avoid this spell like the plague.

Mage Armor (8/10)  +4 to AC, works against touch and incorporeal attacks, last 1/hr per level, great for a wand and to learn, can be used to buff any creature. The AC bonus would just have to grow as your caster level grows to get a 10/10 from me.

Mount (10/10) – Check out these Optibuilds Notes on Mount.

Obscuring Mist (10/10)  A battlefield control spell without any saves or spell resistance.  Even still, I rate this so high because a creative builds (ask Quincy Horcawich) find a way to see through the mist.  This gives them a substantial upper-hand. Check out these Optibuilds Notes on Obscuring Mist

Reduce Person (8/10)+2 to AC and attack (especially range spell touch attacks)  – +1 from Dexterity & +1 from size.  Additionally, a +1 to Initiative, Reflex Save, Dexterity skills.

Remove Sickness (7/10) – Disease, nauseated and sickened are horrible conditions.  Having a  1st level prepared spell or wand on hand that can relieve the front-liner’s suffering is the right thing to do.
